In the mood for love

This part of the year is the slowest part for wedding photography. Few people want to get married in the winter, and even fewer people want to brave the showers that April brings. So, I’ve decided to post a few of my favorite sessions from the past until things get going again.

The first one is an engagement session that I really enjoyed shooting as it allowed me to stretch my creative legs a bit. Alyssa and Elliot’s favorite movie is a Hong Kong art film called “In the Mood for Love”. It’s an extremely stylized film where every frame is beautiful. The overview of the story is that he loves her, and she loves him, but they’re both married to other people so they can’t be together (I know – *Raunchy!*).

Rather than doing yet another engagement session at the beach, I suggested that we go to Union Station in Los Angeles and try and recreate the look and feel of the film with their engagement photos. They were great sports and jumped in with both feet. The first photo contains two stills from the movie so you can have an idea of the style of it. The rest is all about recreating art.

Enjoy – and I’d love to hear your comments!
